September - Embrace Autumn9/1/2022 September means the beginning of my favorite time of year - Autumn. I love watching leaves change on the trees. Each day of the month has the potential be a different temperature outside, and that allows us to bring out our favorite new fall clothes. It also means the beginning of our favorite fall inspired flavors and tea blends such as cinnamon, apple and pumpkin. Football fanatics await the month of September because they can start wearing their teams jerseys, grabbing a hot dog at the stadium and having family gather around the TV to watch Sunday Football. Yes, September starts my favorite time of year. ~Cheers! What does August mean to you? When I think of August, it reminds me of my high school days when it was the last days of summer, before school started at the end of the month. We took our final summer camping trips, vacation to the beach and our last summer trip to visit my cousins in the state of Indiana. County fairs were in the works. A week long of cheerleading training camp before heading back to school. My Mom always had sun tea brewing on our back deck. Awe such fond memories. Now in current time, August reminds me of delicious iced peach tea, putting my feet up and watching the water trinkle (that is my made up word for twinkle and sprinkle) over the beautiful Chesapeake Bay. Awe relaxation. What does the name June mean? June means young. Who doesn't love and admire June? The name is all about summer and sunny days. High School Proms and graduations. Such an exciting time. Here in our area of Southern Maryland, pools are opening and boaters are out on the water skiing or fishing. Everyone is thinking about going on vacation - maybe to the beach. It brings back such wonderful memories. My Mom and I would visit my cousins and aunt over the summer. I always helped out at their soda fountain counter in the pharmacy they owned. We would go swimming every day. Those were carefree times. I am so fortunate to have such wonderful memories. My Mom would always be brewing sun tea on our back deck. Good ol' iced tea. Awe... now that's where my love of tea all started. The Joy of April4/11/2022
March Springy and Cheerful!3/4/2022 What is special about March? “March” is named for the Roman god of war, Mars. Most of us associate it with the beginning of spring, the time of year when the animals wake up from hibernation, the birds seem to have a cheery chirp and for some of us the return of Daylight Saving Time! March is filled with all kinds of fun. St. Patrick's Day, Cherry Blossom Season, to name a few. I absolutely love this little "Advice from a Cherry Tree". We should all take the Cherry Tree's advice. Happy March everyone. Spring forth with joy! February is all about LOVE!2/4/2022 February is known for Valentine's Day, but the month is not just for sweethearts. It is everything about love. It is a time for self-care and self-love, a time for bonding and relationships with family and friends and just loving one another. From our little tea shop family to yours, we send out heartfelt love to all of you and wish you a month filled with LOVE! ~Sandy, Alan, Josey and Zoe Happy New Year 202212/26/2021 New Year's is always a time for reflection on the past year and a time to share hopeful wishes for the new year. The Holiday's are upon us...11/4/2021 What comes to mind when you think of the Thanksgiving Holiday. Does it bring a feeling of warmth, family, love, fond and cherished memories? Maybe reflection of blessings. It is a time of year where I feel grateful for all I have and have been blessed with. A time where I seem to appreciate the outdoors and my loved ones more than any other time of the year. I hear the birds more clearly, smell the crispness of the fall leaves, see the trinkling of the Chesapeake Bay (trinkling is my word for combining sparkling and twinkling) The bay seems to trinkle in the sunlight much more in the fall. Oh my and what beautiful sunsets are in the evening sky. I am thankful for all our wonderful tea shop guests who have become part of our Butterflies and Wishes family. Alan and I wish everyone a lovely Thanksgiving. Thank you always!
Fall has arrived.10/21/2021 The touch of fall is arriving here in Chesapeake Beach Maryland. There is a chill in the night air with sunny low humidity days. It's the time of year that windows can be open to let in the fresh breeze. A nice light blanket on the bed to snuggle and keep you warm. It welcomes tea lovers with open arms.
Fall is my favorite time of year. The leaves are transforming into vibrant orange, red and yellow colors. I am typically not a spice flavored tea girl, but Fall changes all that and I become an Apricot Spice Tea lover, a Chesapeake Sky Tea lover, Pumpkin Spice Bubble Tea lover and even a Chai lover (hot or cold). Fall just gives me the warm and fuzzies. How about you? Are you a Fall lover? What is your favorite Fall tea? WHAT DOES TEA MEAN TO YOU?8/4/2021 Hi Everyone. Thank you for joining in on Butterflies and Wishes first blog post and sharing your passion for tea. There is so much to learn and enjoy about tea, but first thing I would like to ask “what does tea mean to you”? What is the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word tea? Could it possibly be any of the following?
When I think of tea, I think of cherished childhood memories with my Mom. As far back as I can remember, we would have morning tea with toast, even in the afternoon...it really didn’t matter what time of the day it was. When I needed cheering up, we had tea. When I was feeling ill, a hot cup of tea soothed my tummy. I also think of attending our churches annual Mother/Daughter Banquet and Tea. My Mom, both Grandmothers, Aunts and sister all attended. It was such a memorable time wearing identical Mother and Daughter outfits and modeling them in the tea service fashion show. It was one of the most cherished times I spent with the ladies of the Witt and Walker families. When I think about those time, it brings me a feeling of great warmth, a sense of safety and security and a time of innocence. |
